Job Description
We are looking for a motivated Junior Software Engineer to join our technology team. You will work on building and maintaining backend systems and data-driven applications that support our field operations, monitoring systems, and internal tools. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to grow their skills in backend development, data engineering, and applied technology, with exposure to real-world agricultural, GIS, and AI-driven projects.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain backend applications and APIs using Python and Django
- Write clean, well-documented, and testable code
- Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) to design schemas and optimize queries
- Integrate third-party APIs and internal data pipelines
- Collaborate with the IT Manager and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into working features
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in existing systems
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development practices
- Support deployment and basic maintenance of applications on servers (Linux environment)
- Document technical processes and system designs
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Geomatic Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- Solid working knowledge of Python
- Practical experience with the Django framework (personal projects, internships, or coursework are acceptable)
- Working knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote Sensing e.g., spatial data analysis, QGIS, GeoServer, PostGIS, satellite/drone imagery processing
- Understanding of relational databases and SQL
- Familiarity with version control (Git/GitHub)
- Basic understanding of REST APIs
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Exposure to AI/Machine Learning concepts or tools (e.g., using AI APIs, basic model training, prompt engineering, or working with libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch)
- Experience with mapping/spatial libraries (Leaflet, Mapbox, GDAL) or orthomosaic/drone imagery analysis (e.g., crop detection, NDVI/NDRE processing)
- Experience with data processing tools such as Pandas or openpyxl
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, OVH, or similar) and basic DevOps practices
- Experience with IoT systems or hardware integration
